America may be known for its fast food chains and delicious (usually unhealthy) Superbowl snacks BUT the ‘Everything But the Bagel’ seasoning is going VIRAL - and for all the right reasons.
 
This seasoning that can only be purchased from a chain of grocery stores known as Trader Joe’s or online via Amazon, has become a fixation on TikTok - with TikTokers sharing a variety of recipes and ways this flavoursome seasoning can be used. 
 
 
  
 
But why should us Aussies miss out on all the fun? We LOVE a go-to healthy snack to fulfil those 3pm cravings. Let’s make this viral sensation ourselves and I'll also show you my quick and easy use of the seasoning for my go-to, post-lunch snack!

  
 
What You’ll Need: 
And pay attention, it’s SUPER important not to substitute some of the ingredients and I’ll explain why.
(Makes about 3 tablespoons)
 

 
 
  • 1 ½ Tsp - Dried Garlic Flakes
    Not granulated garlic or garlic salt, it MUST be flakes.
    All components of this seasoning must be relatively the same size and consistency,
    otherwise the flavours will settle at the bottom.
     
  • 1 ½ Tsp - Dried Onion Flakes
    Again, no substitutes for the same reason as above.
     
  • 2 Tsp - Black Sesame Seeds
    Now, here is something you CAN substitute.
    If you can’t get your hands on both black AND white sesame seeds,
    double the quantity of whatever you WERE able to get.
    HOT TIP: You can also try toasting your sesame seeds first for a more full-bodied sesame flavour.
     
  • 2 Tsp - White Sesame Seeds
    Same as above.
     
  • 1 ½ Tsp - Poppy Seeds
     
  • 1 Tsp - Flaked Salt
    Another component that CANNOT and I repeat CANNOT be substituted.
    It MUST be SALT FLAKES!!!

So once you have all your ingredients the method is SIMPLE...

Add all 6 ingredients into a repurposed seasoning shaker or just an old jam jar / mason jar, pop the lid on and SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE! 🧂
 
 
 
 
The real fun begins when you realise just HOW GOOD this seasoning is and how many ways you can utilise it to level up your snack and home cooking game. 
 
 
My go-to snack is sliced cucumber (like little crackers) topped with cream cheese and of course your pre-made E.B.T.B Seasoning.
 
 
  
 
This seasoning is so versatile and can be used on:
 
  • Smashed Avo & Toast
  • Salads
  • Salmon Crust
  • Wraps + Sandwiches 
  • Popcorn
  • Roast Veggies ( or fresh just like my go-to snack above ^)
  • Sushi + Poke Bowls
 
 
Everything But The Bagel Seasoning will be your pantry hero and can be used across a multitude of cuisines, so really, once you have this added to your meal-prep regime, the biggest problem you will have is keeping it restocked!
